Fely J’s Restaurant in greenbelt 5 specializes in Filipino & Asian Home Cooking. Yet another restaurant from the LJC group. It’s amazing how these guys never run out of ideas for a restaurant. There’s a proliferation of LJC Group restaurants in Manila nowadays. ABE by far is my favourite (ok! I’m biased since its kapampangan cuisine) but I remember the days when I was younger that my mom and I would always eat lunch at BISTRO REMEDIOS in Malate.
Walking into the restaurant I immediately noticed the pink “ala lattice” walls. It wasn’t lattice of course but I had a feeling that was what they were going for. It was pink..goody! J I liked the look of the place: dark wood tables and chairs, family style tables, quite clean. The service was pretty good too.
Being Friday and hence meat-free for us we decided to order seafood dishes and finally settled on the Fely J’s tilapia in sweet plum sauce and the Butterfly Buttered Prawns.
Fely J’s Tilpia in sweet plum sauce. Such a winner. I’ve been having this aversion to tilapia lately (maybe it’s the way our helper’s cook it) but I really loved this dish. The plum sauce was just right not to sweet. The tilapia was cooked very well and without that malansa taste that I hate. The skin of the tilapia tasted ok also. Great dish.
Butterfly Buttered Prawns. Huge prawns sautéed in butter, curry, and gata. The menu indicated that it was spicy but I didn’t find it spicy at all. It was good nonetheless and had the right amount of curry for my taste.
Overall, I think the experience was good. They could improve more on the ambiance of the place particularly the lighting but the food is good so that in itself is great. The portions were just right and I felt that I paid the right amount for the food and the service that I got. However, I still think ABE in Serendra is waay better. Plus in Fely J’s they’re still having problems with their credit card facilities though so if you’re planning to eat here bring cash first or just call and ask ahead if their credit card facilities are up and running already.
Ciao,

i think for one person P300-P400 but the servings are usually large enough to share so you can probably cut down the cost by sharing.

Hi….was just looking up for Fely J’s in the net…and it lead me to your website… galing!!! You blog about restos din pala.
Yeah I agree Fely J’s tastes yummy.
Next time you should try their rice with fish topping. Its a must try. We always order that whenever we eat there…
Regarding price….its a little pricey actually for a Filipino restaurant.
My hubby, 4 y.o. daughter, her yaya & I ate last Sunday…our bill was around 2,800. Considering we just got the rice with fish topping, prawn dish, veggie dish and crispy pata. Drinks are a little over the top (although we were just 4 peeps…we got 6 drinks…total…haha)….a dalandan juice drink is around P110…. compared to other places that are just around 80 bucks or less. I think Abe is much more reasonable when it comes to price. I think its the rent in Greenbelt 5 that made it that way. Hahaha.
But then again the food is so yummy….so Fely’ J’s for me is a must try…especially if you bring foreign guests and balikbayan friends / relatives.
